The Yoga

Individuals of any age and physical ability can benefit from a

dedicated gentle yoga practice .  This slower paced yoga, with

Hatha Yoga roots, focuses on deep breathing, stretching,

weight bearing, and balance enhancing postures. Movement is

coordinated with the breath.  Together these activities improve

concentration, relaxation, flexibility, coordination, balance, posture,

circulation, as well as core, muscle, and bone strength. Other helpful

outcomes include reduced stress, anxiety, heart rate, and blood

pressure.  A regular yoga practice is the perfect complement to

other forms of exercise and sports.

 

The Instructor

I have enjoyed practicing yoga for 40+ years, as time allowed.

I completed Hatha Yoga teacher training in 2008,  after retiring

from employment with the State of FL as an Administrator for

the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, Dept. of Education.

At that time, I only wanted to deepen my personal practice and

find relief from chronic back pain.   In 2015, I graduated from additional

training in therapeutic yoga.  I am registered with Yoga Alliance,

as an experience yoga teacher (E-RYT 200, RYT 500) and carry liability

insurance.

 

I was encouraged by close friends to teach yoga and share my practice

with others.  I call my style KISS Yoga:  Keep It Slow & Simple.

The acronym, KISS, reflects the love I have for yoga and its benefits.

Keep It Slow & Simple, is suitable for those wanting to maintain optimal

health and wellbeing as they age.

 

My public group classes are taught at a slower pace, with visual and auditory

cues.  Modifications are encouraged to allow full student participation.  Students

are encouraged to, “Start where you are.  Do what you can.”   The only class

rule is, “No pain…all gain!”
